Apple to publish regular UK iPhone and iPad app chart updates

Partnership with Press Association will see charts published weekly

Apple and the Press Association have come to an agreement that will see the publishing of weekly iPhone and iPad app charts.

The Guardian reports that the charts are based on sales and downloads over the previous seven days, though no hard numbers are provided.

Charts that show apps that have been popular in the past few hours are already available in the App Store, though the new charts will offer a snapshot view of an entire week. In September, Apple began publishing weekly app chart updates for the US.

One observation that can be made from the charts is that Apple seems to have successfully opened up a strong revenue stream through iPad apps, with four apps in the top ten paid iPad apps chart (Pages, GarageBand, Numbers and Keynote) made by Apple.
