iOS 5.0.1 Upgrade: Jailbreaker, Please Take Note

After several beta tests, Apple has finally released the iOS 5.0.1 to the public. You can simply connect your iPhone to computer and upgrade via iTunes. If you’re using iOS 5.0, you can also upgrade directly on iPhone via Software Update.

According to the release note of iOS 5.0.1, it comes with a number of improvements and bug fixes:

  • Fixes bugs affecting battery life
  • Adds Multitasking Gestures for the original iPad
  • Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
  • Improves voice recognition for Australian users using Dictation

The iOS update is available for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 2, iPad and iPod touch (3rd/4th Generation).

However, if you depend on jailbreaking or are planning to jailbreak your iPhone, you should stay away from the upgrade. It’s likely Apple has closed the bug that makes jailbreaking possible.
